Benelli has pulled the wraps off the BJ300GS, an adventure-tourer motorcycle that shares most of its mechanical components with the Benelli 302S, in China.
In terms of design, the BJ300GS gets a big fat fairing with a large and wide face that holds a single headlamp unit. It also comes with a tall windscreen, crash guard and hazard lights to combat off-roading as well as long-distance cruising challenges. The BJ300GS utilizes the same trellis frame that is seen on the 302S. However, we expect the chassis to be strengthened and stiffened in order to withstand higher shocks and provide more comfort. The bike tips the scales at 216kg.
The Benelli BJ300GS also uses the same 300cc parallel twin, liquid-cooled engine, which produces 38PS of power and 25.6Nm of torque. However, it will be tuned to suit its touring characteristics.
There has been no official word yet regarding the launch of this bike in India. However, if it indeed receives an international launch, the name of the bike could change, considering the company uses the ‘BJ’ and ‘GS’ suffixes only on its Chinese variants. We can expect the bike to make its global debut in 2018 and, hopefully, it might come to India as well then.
